Dr. Tauseef Khan is a Senior Research Associate in the Department of Nutritional Sciences at the University of Toronto and an internationally recognized expert on the health effects of dietary sweeteners. His research applies systematic reviews, network meta-analyses, and non-linear dose–response modelling to randomized-trial and prospective-cohort evidence on sugars, low- and no-calorie sweeteners (LNCS), and natural sweeteners such as honey, in relation to obesity, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular disease. His critical appraisal of the LNCS evidence base has been central to recent guideline debates — contributing to the dietary recommendations of the European Association for the Study of Diabetes (EASD) and informing ongoing reconsideration of the 2023 WHO guideline on non-sugar sweeteners. He has authored over 100 peer-reviewed publications.
