Implant-related complications continue to present significant clinical challenges for practitioners involved in implant therapy. This special lecture will review contemporary concepts and current trends in the diagnosis and management of peri-implantitis, with a focus on infraosseous defects. Participants will gain a clear understanding of defect morphology–based treatment planning and learn how to select the most appropriate surgical and non-surgical treatment modalities. Evidence-based approaches, biomaterials, and regenerative strategies for managing peri-implantitis defects will be discussed to enhance predictability and long-term clinical outcomes.
Learning Objectives:
Develop clinical confidence in diagnosing peri-implantitis and determining appropriate treatment strategies based on defect configuration.
Understand the indications and techniques for implant surface decontamination, including implantoplasty and resective/osseous surgical approaches.
Evaluate the role of regenerative materials and biologics in the management of peri-implantitis infraosseous defects.
