For the dentist who is a beginner at extracting impacted third molars, this is a fast-paced combined lecture and hands-on session to learn how to approach impacted third molars from consultation to flap design, from bone removal to sectioning, and from delivery to closure of the surgical site. A typodont-based third molar model will be available for hands-on learning. This course is meant to teach different approaches, but is model based and as such has limitations. This course is ideal for someone who is looking to expand their practice and build on what they learned in dental school.
There is some overlap between Third Molar Removal and Advanced Oral Surgery--please be advised that if you take both, some of the same material will be covered.

Learning Objectives:

Learn how to evaluate third molar cases to plan for efficient and effective removal
Try different techniques with the surgical drill to expose, trough and section third molars
Consider how to manage the soft tissue in third molar removal
